报告人简介

Dr. Nussbaum is a Chaired Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech (VT), USA.  He obtained his PhD in Industrial and Operations Engineering from The University of Michigan in 1994, and was a post-doc researcher in the same department until moving to VT in 1996.  He directs the Occupational Safety and Health Research Center (OSHRC) and co-directs the Industrial Ergonomics and Biomechanics Laboratory.  He is the Managing Editor of the new IIE Transactions on Occupational Ergonomics and Human Factors journal, a member of the editorial boards of several journals (Ergonomics, Applied Ergonomics, Journal of Biomechanics, and the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene), and a fellow of the Institute for Ergonomics and Human Factors and the American Industrial Hygiene Association.  He has published over 115 papers in peer-reviewed journals, and advised over 20 doctoral students.  His research areas include occupational biomechanics, physical ergonomics, and work physiology, with a primary focus on occupational injury prevention.  He has particular interests in human modeling and simulation, localized muscle fatigue, human balance and fall prevention, aging, and obesity.  His work has been applied in the healthcare, manufacturing, and construction sectors.
